FAQ's

When and where are rehearsals?
Rehearsals will take place on Saturdays at Steps School of Dance once casting is complete and will continue weekly leading up to the performance. While each dancer’s schedule will vary based on casting, rehearsals typically will occur between 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM. Dancers may be called anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on their age and role(s).

When and where are the performances?
Coastal Ballet of Florida will present The Nutcracker at the Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo. There will be three performances:

Saturday, December 20th at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Sunday, December 21st at 2:00 PM

*Cast members are required to perform in all three shows.

What if I’m not able to attend every Saturday rehearsal?
We still encourage you to audition! While regular attendance is important, we allow up to three excused absences depending on the role your dancer is cast in. Please list any known conflicts on the audition form so we can plan accordingly.

*There will be no rehearsals held over Thanksgiving weekend.

What if I’m unable to attend the audition but would still like to be considered?

If you are unable to attend the scheduled audition, you may request a make-up audition by emailing us at info@coastalballetofflorida.org

What roles will dancers be auditioning for?
Dancers will be cast in ensemble roles appropriate for their age and experience. These roles include dancing as well as storytelling, offering valuable stage experience and the opportunity to perform alongside professional dancers. While these parts do not include lead or solo dancing roles, they are an important and exciting part of the production!

Who Can Audition?

Dancers ages 3 to 17

We offer roles for a wide range of ages and experience levels—from first-time performers to advanced dancers. Whether your child is stepping into ballet class for the first time or looking to expand their stage experience, The Nutcracker offers a magical opportunity to be part of a cherished holiday tradition.

Please note:

Dancers ages 3–5 are not required to have formal training but must be potty trained and able to take direction in a group setting.
Dancers ages 6 and up should have at least one year of dance training.
Casting is based on age, experience, and rehearsal availability.

Audition Information

Location: Steps School of Dance, 2440 State Rd. 580 Suite 8 Clearwater, FL 34685

Date: Saturday, September 6th!

Times: Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to fill out audition paper work and be measured.

Ages 3-4 1:45-2:00

Ages 5-6 2:00-2:30

Ages 7-9 2:30-3:15

Ages 10-12 3:15 - 4:15

Ages 13-17 4:15-5:15

*Dancers 11+ with at least one full year of pointe may be asked to wear pointe shoes for part of the audition.

Attire: Girls – leotard, pink tights, ballet flats, pointe shoes if on pointe.

Boys – white or black shirt, black tights or shorts, ballet shoes.

Audition Fee: $25.00

Casted dancers perform alongside professional company members at the beautiful Largo Central Park Performing Arts Center, with exquisite costumes, theatrical lighting, and professionally designed sets and backdrops.
